Audioslave were an American rock supergroup that consisted of the former instrumentalists of Rage Against the Machine; Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass and backing vocals) and Brad Wilk (drums), together with Chris Cornell, the former frontman of Soundgarden, as their lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist.
The band's trademark sound was created by blending 1970s hard rock influences (their music was often compared to Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath) with the 1990s grunge sound of Nirvana and Soundgarden. Moreover, Morello incorporated his well-known, unconventional guitar solos into this mix.
Audioslave was officially disbanded on 2007.
