About A Quick One

This album cover art print of The Who is one of two produced by the artist Alan Aldridge for Hypergallery in 2012. Only ten of the edition of 100 were ever printed and signed by Aldridge before he died in 2017. A Quick One, released in 1966, was only the second album by The Who and is widely regarded by fans to have been a pivotal album for the group, departing from the style of the singles for which they had become known. Alan Aldridge's Grammy nominated illustration depicts each band member contributing a sound, quite appropriate for an album created under the brief that each member was to contribute at least two songs. It was "a distinctive period piece" according to The Guardian (22nd Feb 2017) "in which huge song titles swirled out from the musicians’ instruments". The illustration was re-presented by Aldridge in this print at a luscious 18" square. It is also worth noting that Aldridge's signature is a little artwork in its own right. Have a closer peek.
