Gary Houston is a graphic designer and illustrator best known for making silk-screen posters for music concerts for local venues and touring bands in Portland, Oregon, under the name Voodoo Catbox.
Houston and partner Mike King formed the company in 1995 to give themselves complete control over production, “to keep the spirit of hands on production alive, and to give voice to less than mainstream musical groups."
The Voodoo Catbox posters are traditionally made – hand drawn and hand cut or scratchboard originals. Colour separations are hand cut and then hand pulled. From alternative to country, each poster commemorates a show, special event, or tour and each resulting poster is a limited edition screen print. They are all numbered and signed by Houston and embossed with the unique Voodoo Catbox 'hand' logo.
