PART OF ’10 OF 10CC’ SERIES
This limited edition archival inkjet print is one of a collection of 10cc artworks published by Hypergallery in 2012. The collection, 10 of 10cc, celebrates the wonderful work produced by Hipgnosis and StormStudios for 10cc, from the early days and throughout their career. Customers purchasing 5 or more prints from the set will receive their prints in a beautiful archival portfolio with an accompanying booklet signed by Graham Gouldman. Deceptive Bends was the fourth album cover designed by Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell at Hipgnosis and by this time, in 1977, they were firmly established as 10cc's album cover designers. The idea was originally based on a signpost on the road to 10cc's Surrey recording studio 'Beware Deceptive Bends', but Hipgnosis turned this idea on its head with the reference to a diver suffering from the Bends. Is this a hallucination, is this deceptive bends? Aubrey Powell recalled from the shoot that "the diver's helmet was incredibly heavy and we had no air supply for the man inside. In the hot studio it became quite unbearable for him, especially as he was holding the girl. We had to keep stopping, taking the helmet off, and then putting it back on again; it was a b****y nightmare.”
