ESTATE APPROVED
Inside Sauter-Finegan is a limited edition archival inkjet of one of the best-known album cover illustrations by Jim Flora. Released on RCA Victor in 1954, the record featured the orchestral adventurism of composer-arrangers Eddie Sauter and Bill Finegan. While the figures on the cover in no way resemble the two musicians, Flora's playful caricatures reflect S-F's modernist, mid-century approach to redefining big band jazz after the decline of the swing era. Produced in 2011 by Flora archivist Barbara Economon, the print was meticulously and painstakingly crafted from a scan of a vintage printer's proof of the cover held in the Flora family archive. It was published by Flora's estate, using a beautiful rag paper by Hahnemühle, and we are very excited to be able to offer it for sale here. Each print is numbered in pencil and authenticated with a publisher's seal on the reverse.
